The southernmost island of the dodecanese, Crete, is the largest in this group. Rich in every sense of the word, it has a variety of different landscapes, from beautiful lush vegetation to areas dominated by agricultural cultivation.

Heraklion - The Cretan capital of Heraklion is a bustling modern city and the fifth largest in Greece.

Rethymno - Cretes third largest city. The Main attraction is the Venetian-Ottoman quarter that occupies the headland beneath the massive Venetian fortress.

Chania - Cretes second largest city and former capital. The beautiful, crumbling Venetian quarter of Chania that surrounds the Old Harbour is one of Cretes best attractions. Chania is a main transit point for trekkers going to the Samaria Gorge.
